The Lord made them sit with the princes of his people

There is something deeply beautiful in this response: “The Lord made them sit with the princes of his people.” It reminds us that God is not indifferent to the lowly. He sees those the world overlooks, and He is able to raise them up in a way no human power can.

This is the way of the Lord throughout Scripture. He does not always choose the strong, the admired, or the already powerful. Very often, He draws near to the humble, the poor, the forgotten, and the small in the eyes of the world. And when He lifts them up, it is not merely to change their outward condition, but to reveal His mercy and His glory.

That is what makes this response so moving. It tells us that no life is too hidden for God, and no person is too lowly to be touched by His grace.

The world usually measures worth by status, wealth, influence, and appearance. But God sees differently. He sees the heart. He sees the one who prays quietly, who suffers patiently, who remains faithful in obscurity, who keeps trusting even when no one notices. And the Lord knows how to honor such souls.

There is also hope in these words for anyone who feels small, overlooked, or burdened. God is able to lift the human heart beyond what it could imagine for itself. Sometimes He does this outwardly, but even more deeply He does it inwardly — by giving dignity, peace, purpose, and a place among His own.

To “sit with the princes of his people” is not only about honor. It is about belonging. It is about being brought near, being given a place, being lifted from shame into dignity.

That is the work of God.

  • He raises.
  • He restores.
  • He gives honor where the world gave none.

And perhaps that is the deeper message of this psalm: the Lord delights in overturning human pride by showing special care for the humble. He reminds us that grace can raise a person higher than the world ever could.

So this response teaches both trust and humility. Trust, because God can lift up the lowly. Humility, because every honor worth having comes from His hand.
