Alleluia.
I chose you from the world that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, says the Lord.
Alleluia.
There is something deeply moving in these words: “I chose you from the world that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide.” They remind us that the Christian life begins not with our search for God, but with His loving choice of us.
To be chosen by Christ is not a privilege for pride. It is a call to purpose. He draws us to Himself so that our lives may become fruitful, not in passing success, but in faith, charity, truth, and perseverance. The fruit He desires is the kind that remains when noise fades and time passes.
This Alleluia is both comforting and demanding. It tells us that our lives are not accidental in the eyes of God. But it also reminds us that grace is meant to bear something real. A life touched by Christ should leave behind love, mercy, faithfulness, and hope that do not quickly disappear.
That is the beauty of this promise: the Lord does not choose us merely to belong to Him, but to become fruitful in a way that lasts.
