Alleluia.
The Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Alleluia.
There is something breathtaking in this line: “The Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” It turns the world’s idea of greatness upside down.
We are used to thinking that power means being honored, obeyed, and attended to. But Jesus reveals a different glory, the glory of self-giving love. He does not stand above us demanding service. He bends down to save, to heal, to carry, and finally to lay down His life.
That is what makes this Alleluia so powerful. It shows us the heart of Christ. His greatness is not cold or distant. It is merciful, humble, and sacrificial.
And in those few words, we are reminded that the Cross was not an accident. It was love choosing to give everything, so that many might live.
