I kill and I make alive

The words “I kill and I make alive remind us that God alone is Lord of life. Human strength, wealth and power can disappear in a moment, but God remains faithful and His purposes cannot be defeated.

This psalm also calls us to humility. There are moments when God allows us to see how little we can accomplish by relying only on ourselves. Yet He does not abandon His people. When our strength fails, when circumstances seem beyond us, and when every other refuge disappears, God is still there.

The response is therefore not simply about death and life. It speaks of the God who can bring hope from despair, strength from weakness and new beginnings from what seemed finished. The same Lord who permits us to pass through difficult seasons is able to restore, heal and raise us again.

Today, we are invited to place our lives completely in His hands and trust Him even when we cannot understand what He is doing.

“I kill and I make alive.”
Lord, in every season of my life, help me to remember that my life is in Your hands and that nothing is beyond Your power to redeem.
