This Gospel Acclamation is a loving reminder that our Christian life must always be lived with eternity in view. Jesus does not tell us when He will come; He tells us to be ready.
Being ready does not mean living in fear or constantly trying to predict the end. It means living faithfully today, loving God, forgiving others, turning away from sin, caring for those in need, and remaining close to Christ through prayer and the Sacraments.
“Watch, therefore, and be ready” is an invitation to live so that, whenever the Lord comes, He finds us doing what He entrusted to us. The person who walks with Christ each day has no reason to fear meeting Him. Our readiness begins now, in the ordinary choices through which we say yes to God and His will.
