The Lord’s merciful love fills the earth

Response: “The Lord’s merciful love fills the earth.”
Taken from Psalm 33: 1 – 2, 4 – 5, 10 – 11 (Response.) 5b

“The Lord’s merciful love fills the earth” is a beautiful reminder that God’s goodness is not distant from us. His mercy surrounds us even in seasons when life feels uncertain, painful or beyond our understanding.

The Psalm invites us to praise God because His word is trustworthy, His works are faithful, and He loves justice and righteousness. Human plans may fail and circumstances may suddenly change, but the purposes of God endure from generation to generation.

Sometimes we look for God’s presence only in extraordinary miracles, yet His merciful love is often revealed quietly: in forgiveness we did not deserve, in someone who stays beside us during suffering, in another opportunity to begin again, in the beauty of creation, and in the grace that carries us through a day we thought we could not face.

To proclaim that “The Lord’s merciful love fills the earth” is therefore an act of faith. It is to believe that darkness never has the final word and that, even when we cannot understand what God is doing, His love has not abandoned His people.

May we learn to recognize that mercy around us and, through the way we forgive, serve and care for one another, allow someone else to encounter it through us.
