Blessed Are Those Who Hear the Word of God and Keep It

There is a difference between hearing God’s Word and allowing it to remain within us. Jesus calls blessed those who receive His Word so deeply that it begins to shape the way they think, speak, forgive, love and make their daily choices.

To “keep” the Word does not mean merely remembering Scripture. It means holding onto God’s truth when living it becomes difficult, choosing forgiveness when we have been hurt, faith when we cannot see the way ahead, and obedience when another path seems easier.

The Word of God bears fruit when it moves from our ears into our hearts, and from our hearts into our lives. The blessing is not simply in hearing what God says, but in becoming faithful to what we have heard.

May we receive His Word today with an open heart, treasure it within us, and have the courage to live it.
