Lord, let your mercy come upon me

“Lord, let your mercy come upon me.”

This response is a prayer of complete dependence on God. It comes from a heart that knows it cannot rely on its own strength alone, but must live by the mercy, truth, and promises of the Lord.

Psalm 119 shows someone who loves God’s word deeply. The psalmist asks not only for mercy, but also for the grace to remain faithful, to speak the truth boldly, and to walk in freedom by following God’s commands.

That is the beautiful paradox of faith: obedience to God does not imprison us; it frees us. His word gives direction when life feels uncertain, courage when we are afraid, and hope when we are tempted to give up.

To pray, “Lord, let your mercy come upon me,” is to admit that we need God every day. We need His forgiveness for our failures, His strength for our struggles, and His love to keep us moving forward.

May this be our prayer today: that God’s mercy would not simply visit us for a moment, but shape the way we think, choose, speak, and live.

“Lord, let your mercy come upon me.”
