Alleluia.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Alleluia.
There is a beautiful freedom hidden within these words of Jesus. To be “poor in spirit” does not mean being weak or lacking dignity. It means recognizing that everything we have is ultimately a gift from God and that we depend on Him above all else.
The poor in spirit are those who do not place their security in wealth, status, or their own abilities, but in the Lord. Their hearts remain open, humble, and ready to receive His grace.
In a world that often celebrates self-sufficiency, Jesus teaches a different path. The kingdom of heaven belongs to those who know their need for God and trust Him completely. Such humility is not a weakness; it is the foundation of true holiness and lasting joy.
The more room we make for God in our hearts, the more we discover that He Himself is our greatest treasure.
Alleluia.
