O Jerusalem, glorify the Lord

Responsorial Psalm is taken from psalm 147 verse 12a and the response is O Jerusalem, glorify the Lord!

There is something noble and uplifting in this response: “O Jerusalem, glorify the Lord!” It is more than a call to sing. It is a call for the whole city, the whole people, to remember where their true glory comes from.

Jerusalem is told to glorify the Lord because every blessing it has, every protection it receives, and every hope it carries comes from God. The honor of the city is not in walls or power, but in the presence of the Lord who dwells among His people.

That is what makes these words speak to us too. We are often tempted to glorify ourselves, our success, or what we have built. But this psalm gently turns the heart back to what matters most: give glory to God first.

And when a soul truly does that, it begins to find its right place again, humble, grateful, and full of peace.
