There is a reason Jesus calls Himself the living bread. Bread sustains physical life, but Christ came to nourish something even deeper: the human soul.
In these words, Jesus reminds us that He is not merely a teacher who points the way to God; He is the source of divine life itself. The world offers many things that promise satisfaction, yet our hearts often remain restless. Only Christ can fill the deepest hunger within us.
When Jesus says, “If any one eats this bread he will live for ever,” He points us toward the great gift of the Eucharist, where He gives Himself to us completely. Through Holy Communion, we are united with Him, strengthened by His grace, and given a foretaste of eternal life.
This Alleluia invites us to approach the Lord with renewed faith and gratitude, recognizing that the Bread of Life is not merely a gift from God, it is God Himself, given for the salvation of the world.
Alleluia.
