The Lord is close to all who call him

“The Lord is close to all who call him.”

Taken from Psalm 145: 18a

There are moments when God can seem far away, especially when prayers appear unanswered, when suffering continues, or when we simply do not know what to do next. Psalm 145 gives us a beautiful assurance: God is not distant from those who sincerely seek Him.

His closeness does not always mean that our difficulties immediately disappear. Sometimes His presence is experienced instead as the strength to endure, the peace that arrives when circumstances have not yet changed, or the quiet courage to continue when we thought we had nothing left.

But the Psalm also speaks of those who call upon God “in truth.” Prayer is more than asking God to give us what we want. It is opening our hearts honestly before Him and allowing His will to shape our own.

And perhaps this is the consolation we need most today: we never have to make ourselves worthy enough for God to come near. We only need to turn toward Him with a sincere heart and call His name.

“The Lord is close to all who call him.”
