Blessed are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart

Alleluia.
Blessed are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Alleluia.

The Gospel Acclamation reminds us that simply hearing God’s Word is not enough. The seed of His Word bears fruit only when it is welcomed into an honest heart, guarded with faith, and lived out with perseverance. Lasting holiness is not built in a single day but grows quietly through daily fidelity to the Lord.

The phrase “bring forth fruit with patience” is especially comforting. God does not expect instant perfection. He asks us to remain faithful, even when growth seems slow or unseen. Every act of forgiveness, every prayer offered in trust, every choice to do what is right becomes fruit that glorifies Him.

Today, let us ask for hearts that are open to God’s Word, steadfast in trials, and patient enough to allow His grace to shape us into the disciples He calls us to be.
