Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful

Alleluia.
Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful; and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Alleluia.

There is something deeply beautiful in this prayer: “Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful; and kindle in them the fire of your love.” It is the cry of a soul that knows faith can grow cold if God Himself does not keep it alive.

We do not ask only for guidance here. We ask to be filled. We ask for the heart to be touched where it is tired, hardened, distracted, or weak. And we ask for fire not the fire of noise or emotion alone, but the quiet, holy fire that makes a person love God more truly and love others more generously.

This Alleluia reminds us that the Christian life is not sustained by duty alone. It needs the living presence of the Holy Spirit. Only He can set the heart fully awake, fully faithful, and fully alive in the love of God.
