“I Will Greatly Rejoice in the Lord.”
Today’s Responsorial Psalm reminds us that Christian joy is deeper than simply feeling happy when life is going well. The psalmist has known fear and uncertainty, yet he chooses to trust in the Lord’s steadfast love and to rejoice in His salvation.
There will be days when rejoicing comes easily, and others when our hearts are burdened by worries, disappointment or unanswered prayers. Yet our reason for hope remains the same: God is faithful. He has not abandoned us, even when we cannot yet see what He is doing.
This response is especially beautiful because it invites us to place our joy not merely in what God gives us, but in God Himself: “I will greatly rejoice in the Lord.”
May we learn to carry that joy into today, not because everything in our lives is perfect, but because the Lord is with us, His mercy surrounds us, and our lives remain safely within His loving hands.
