Alleluia.
Now shall the ruler of this world be cast out, says the Lord; and I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.
Alleluia.
This Gospel Acclamation points us straight to the Cross. What looked like defeat became Christ’s victory. In being lifted up, Jesus broke the power of sin and opened the way for all people to be drawn back to the Father.
The words also remind us that the Cross is not only something to admire from a distance. Christ draws us to Himself there. He invites us to bring Him our fears, our sins, our suffering, and the parts of life we cannot carry alone.
The world often looks for power in control, status, and force. Jesus shows a different kind of power: love that gives itself completely.
Today, may we allow ourselves to be drawn closer to Christ, trusting that no darkness is stronger than the love revealed on the Cross.
Alleluia.
