“Your Words, Lord, Are Spirit and Life”
The words of Jesus are not merely wise teachings to admire; they carry life within them. They reach places in the human heart that no worldly success, possession or reassurance can truly satisfy. Christ speaks to our fears, our sins, our hopes and our deepest longing for God.
Yet His Word sometimes comforts us and sometimes challenges us. It may ask us to forgive when resentment feels easier, to repent when pride resists, or to trust when we cannot see what lies ahead. Still, every word of Christ is spoken for our salvation.
When we proclaim, “You have the words of eternal life,” we are making an act of faith: Lord, there are many voices competing for my heart, but Yours is the voice I choose to follow.
May we never become so distracted by the noise of the world that we can no longer hear the voice of Christ, because His Word does more than show us how to live, it leads us to eternal life.
