  • I love you, Lord, my strength

I love you, Lord, my strength

“I love you, Lord, my strength.” There are moments in life when we discover just how little strength we have on our own. When worries become overwhelming, when prayers seem unanswered, or when the burdens we carry feel too heavy, it is easy to become discouraged. Yet today’s Responsorial Psalm reminds us that we do not have to face life’s struggles relying only on ourselves. David calls the Lord his rock, his fortress, and his deliverer. These are not merely beautiful words. They come from the heart of someone who has known fear, danger, and uncertainty, yet has experienced God’s faithfulness through it all. What makes this Psalm particularly moving is that David begins not by asking God for something, but by telling Him, “I love you, Lord.” How often do we approach God with a long list of needs, yet forget to simply tell Him that we love Him? Perhaps today we need to remember that loving God does not mean our lives will be free from hardship. It means knowing where to turn when hardship comes. Our strength is not found in pretending that everything is fine, but in trusting the Lord even when everything around us seems uncertain. And sometimes, God’s strength does not come by immediately removing our troubles. It comes through the courage to face another day, the patience to endure what we cannot change, and the peace that keeps us from losing hope. May we learn to say, not only when life is going well, but especially when it becomes difficult, “I love you, Lord, my strength.” For when everything else feels uncertain, God remains the rock on which we can stand.
