The words “A great prophet has risen among us, and God has visited his people” express the wonder of encountering God not as distant or indifferent, but as One who comes close to His people in their suffering.
In Jesus Christ, God enters the wounds of humanity. He sees the grieving, hears the forgotten, touches the broken and brings hope where people may have begun to believe that all hope is lost. His presence reminds us that no sorrow is unseen by God and no human life is beyond the reach of His mercy.
This acclamation also challenges us to recognize the ways Christ visits us today, through His Word, the Holy Eucharist, the Sacraments, and sometimes through the compassion of another person when we need it most.
May our hearts remain open to recognize Christ when He comes among us, and may our own lives become signs of His loving presence to those who are suffering. Alleluia.
