Alleluia.
Teach me your paths, O Lord. Guide me in your truth.
Alleluia.
“Teach me your paths, O Lord. Guide me in your truth.”
This Gospel Acclamation is a simple prayer of surrender. We often ask God to bless the path we have already chosen, but faith asks something deeper: to allow God to show us the path we should take.
To pray, “Teach me your paths,” is to admit that we do not always know what is best for us. Our desires, fears and ambitions can sometimes lead us away from what God desires. We therefore need His Word, His grace and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help us recognise the truth.
Following God’s path does not mean that every step will be easy or immediately understood. Sometimes He leads us through uncertainty, asks us to wait, or calls us to make choices that demand courage. Yet the Christian trusts that God never leads us away from what is truly good.
Today, may our prayer be sincere: Lord, do not simply follow me where I want to go. Teach me where You want me to go, and give me the courage to follow.
Alleluia.
